Sullivan. John L. Sullivan – the first Irish American Boxing Champion, ‘The Hand That Shook The World’, and the World's First Heavyweight Champion. This just found John L. Sullivan Champion Of The World trophy is an item that clearly represents a pivotal point in the history of boxing — from bare knuckles to gloves. John L. Sullivan was the first Irish American Boxing Champion, The Hand That Shook The World, the World's First Heavyweight Champion, called the Boston Strong Boy and he was the last bare-knuckle champion, and the first one to use gloves. We do know that this trophy is one-of-a-kind, and no one, no boxing collectors in the world we have talked to has ever seen anything like it. This rare and unique piece from John L Sullivan's history has been authenticated as to time period by Bert Sugar - boxing historian. This historic item is now for sale.
